HSP Crocodile Rock coming this Sunday

Lyle Riedy and Perry crew have the trails rockin and waiting for you to come out and play. All the details on the 7th Annual Crocodile Rock, can be found below.

Here's the quick hit on what's new for the 2008 season:

1. Online registration for all events. No extra fees. Simple and easy to use.
2. Trail Runs. We have added a 5k and 10k trail running race to all of our events except the Dirty Kanza 200
3. HMBCS classes: We've added a 5.5" travel class and expanded kids classes.
4. HMBCS revised scoring for the expert class. We have added an overall category.
5. Two new venues:
Corby Park. St. Joseph, MO. A brand new trail system in the heart of the city. [HMBCS event]
Shawnee Mission Park. Shawnee, KS. Newly revamped trail system. [3hr/6hr]
6. Pappy's Place. A weekly sermon brought to you by the world famous Coach Long.

HMBCS # 3 and 5k/10k: Crocodile Rock

WHEN: Sunday April 27th 2008.

WHERE: Perry Lake State Park, Perry, KS.

DIRECTIONS: From the east take highway 24 west from Lawrence to Highway 237. (There is a large sign for Perry State Park.) Turn right (north) and go 4 miles. Cross the bridge, look for the trailhead sign in the State Park across the road from the marina. From the west take Highway 24 east from Topeka 8 miles to Highway 237 and turn north on 237 and proceed as stated above. Turn in where you see the "Race Today" sign.

GENERAL TRAIL INFO: The Perry race course is fairly fast with lots of big ring riding and then some fairly rocky/technical with mostly short-up climbs and descents to challenge riders technical skills.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
7:00am 5k/10k registration opens
8:00am 5k run starts
9:00am 10k run starts
9:30am MTB Race Day registration opens.
11:30am Registration closes.
11:45am Racer meeting.
NOON And they're off!
2:00pm Kids Race
2:30pm Awards ceremony

MOUNTAIN BIKE COURSE INFO*
The course will be 5 mile lap with 100% fast single track trail with just a few small rocky outcroppings. One respectable climb per lap otherwise with gentle grades both up and down with a few small steeps. Course consists of Skyline, and the 2 new entry level loops Willow's loop and Knothead. Average lap time should be 25 minutes. Al racers will be on the same course. We will do a staggered, timed mass start.

* The trail run course will be a modified version.

Length---> 5 miles (apx)
Lap times---> if conditions stay the same, experts will be in the 25-30 minute range

Expert women = 3 laps
Expert men = 4 laps
Clydesdale/Singlespeed/5.5" travel/Sport men = 3 laps
Sport women = 2 laps
Beginner women = 1 or 2 laps TBA
Beginner men = 2 laps
Junior women = 1 or 2 laps TBA
Junior men = 1 or 2 laps TBA
Just for fun = 1 or 2 laps TBA
